UNFORTUNATELY, I AM NOT ABLE TO ACCEPT ANY NEW CLIENTS AT THIS TIME
Cathyann is a 2008 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a Masters in Community Counseling and a 1987 undergraduate of the University of Pittsburgh's College of General Studies in English Writing and Psychology. She has done extensive training to allow her to provide you with the most rewarding therapy experience. While pursuing her Masters degree, she was simultaneously training in Hakomi, a body-centered psychotherapy technique which focuses on attachment-related beliefs and traumas. In addition, she has trained extensively in Internal Family Systems as well as with the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute to increase her understanding and ability to support her clients in processing trauma and learning how to increase their ability to be at peace in their bodies.
Cathyann has worked extensively in individual and group therapy settings while at Mercy Behavioral Health, a local community mental health organization, and is comfortable with a wide range of mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, grief and loss, trauma/abuse, ADD/ADHD, OCD, life transitions, aging, relationship stressors, ongoing 12-step recovery work, and chronic health conditions.
Cathyann has extensive training and supervision in utilizing the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model of therapy, which encourages the use of creativity and self-compassion to explore internal conflicts. She will help you to integrate mindfulness, techniques including special breathing skills or "tapping," and/or bilateral stimulation. She is happy to answer any questions you might have to see if she feels as though she might be a good fit to help you with your life stress or personal growth work.
In addition to IFS and the other types of therapy described, Cathyann has most recently trained to use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) with her clients to reduce trauma responses.
